🎄 Christmas Around the World: Mexico

Ms. Soulmani’s 4th grade literacy students explored Christmas in Mexico, learning about traditions, foods, and holiday activities, and comparing them to traditions in the United States. Through reading, discussion, writing, and collaboration, they shared ideas and explained what they learned.

As a hands-on activity, students created Las Posadas stars, connecting their learning to meaningful cultural symbols. Two students from Mexico shared their own family celebrations, adding authentic voices and real-life experiences.

This fun learning activity strengthened reading, writing, speaking, and collaborative skills while helping students appreciate and celebrate cultures from around the world.

✨ From Ms. Soulmani’s students: ¡Feliz Navidad! 🎄

Grinch vs Santa

When you give our students and families an assignment, they always show up in a big way. Today, members of Central Elementary's "Snow Much Fun" Committee presented Lacey Ogle and Samantha Maloch, of Compassions Foundation, a cashier's check in the amount of $743.87 .
Our students collected a total of 113.4 pounds of coins, during Coins for Compassions, and Farmers Bank & Trust graciously agreed to count the coins for us!
Our fourth graders contributed the most coins, and they will be rewarded with an extra recess upon returning from our Christmas break.
Thank you to everyone that worked so hard to make Coins for Compassions a huge success.

Ms. Soulmani’s Students Shine in Geology Projects
Ms. Soulmani’s 4th grade literacy students completed a fun, cross-curricular end-of-unit geology project. They chose topics like Earth’s layers, rocks and the rock cycle, volcanoes, tsunamis, mountains, or tectonic plates, researched facts, added pictures, and presented their projects to the class.
This project fostered literacy, science, and STEAM skills and built confidence in presenting. This project was also a wonderful opportunity for parents to be involved in their children’s learning journey, supporting exploration and discovery at home.
We are so proud of their curiosity, creativity, and hard work!
