RACHEL AVERY NAMED HEAD SOFTBALL COACH FOR MAGNOLIA SCHOOL DISTRICT

Rachel Avery is a proud East Texas native who graduated from Rusk High School in Rusk, Texas. She left an indelible mark on the softball field in high school with a remarkable batting average of .488 and an impressive twenty homeruns. In 2016 she was not only named to the All-State Team, but also earned the prestigious title of Player of the Year. After graduating, Rachel made Magnolia her home when she enrolled in Southern Arkansas University (SAU) to continue her education and play softball for the Lady Muleriders.

 Rachel ended her collegiate career with a .304 batting average and nineteen homeruns. During her time as a Lady Mulerider, she garnered recognition and honors such as Great American Conference (GAC) Second Team Performer and Central Region Second Team Catcher. The pinnacle of Rachel’s collegiate career came when she was named to the Women’s College World Series First Team as a catcher, a distinction awarded to her for displaying exceptional skills and leadership.

Rachel graduated from SAU in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in K-12 Physical Education. She did her student teaching with the Magnolia School District. 

 

Rachel enjoys volunteering in the Magnolia community. She is married to Magnolia native Derek Avery, and they have two children, Raelynn and Hallie.
